For Me Or Big Corporations?

Twitter desperate to generate revenue will be launching its new service “Promoted Accounts” very soon. This service can be used by the both big corporations and individuals.

Corporations: Companies can promote their brands by increasing their twitter following. These brands will be recommended by twitter to people like us in its feature “Who to follow”.

Individuals: Now we can also buy followers to increase following by paying (fees not yet disclosed) to twitter.

MyTake: For two very simple reasons this so called new service is more for big corporations then individuals like you and me.

1.  It is purely going to benefit advertisers and companies. On the other hand we the people will be bombarded with recommendations and suggestions by twitter to follow these companies whether you like it or not. Hence we will not be able to follow trends that are hot and happening recommended by the twitter itself.

2. I am amused to hear that even we can buy followers. Well! I do not have spare cash to buy them for no good reason. Do you have?

Apple TV: Either TV or A Computer 

Earlier this month while introducing Apple TV Steve Jobs said “don’t want a computer on their TV”. Which means Apple TV will be free from app store, games and web browser. So it will be just a TV free from computer.

MyTake: I don’t trust Steve jobs because he does exactly opposite to what he says. I can recall two such instances.

1.    iPhone was also launched without apps.

2.    First he laughed on e books and later launches iBooks store.

It’s Party Time!

European Union closed its investigation on Apple’s restriction on interpreted code that prevented developers from using tools that can make their apps available on various platforms.

MyTake: Hence Apple will continue to have control on the interpreted code. The developers have to completely rely on Apple to grant them access to the codes and Apple will have its apps running on various platforms. Apple will do anything to make profit!

BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOK

Does iPad will become irrelevant? This is a million dollar question that people are asking, as RIM unveiled 7 inch tablet BlackBerry Playbook. It is described as “First Professional Tablet” with complete access to the web. It has all the features that I can imagine.

• 7” LCD, 1024 X 600, WSVGA, touch screen and gesture support.
•  Symmetric Processing
• 1 GHz dual core processor and 1 GB RAM.
•  DUAL HD Cameras, Video & Audio Playback.
•  Wi-Fi , Bluetooth and connectors
•  And BLA BLA BLA! I mean every other feature that one can think about.

MyTake: I wonder this will not only kill the iPad but also change the entire web experience. I will surely want to have one when it arrives in market in early 2011. However 2 things that are still not clear are

1. The Rate:If rate is too high then the iPads will still be relevant.

            2. The Battery:Nothing has been said about the battery life.
